Wealth Inequality

Wealth Inequality

The top 1% owns 90% of our wealth and is keeps growing. It will not be long until they own everything, leaving all average americans with nothing but the ability to rely on government programs or local community resources to survive.

As time has pushed forward, the distribution of wealth has grown so incredibly skewed to the top 1% that it has left the middle class devastated and shrinking and the lowest classes with absolutely nothing to live on.

Alongside wealth distribution, the main issue is inflation and the fact that our country no longer raises wages alongside inflation. As the price of goods increases and our incomes stay the same, it is only obvious that people will struggle more and more to just buy their normal day to day goods to fulfill their needs. Alongside the rise in rent and housing, how could anyone afford anything?

No wonder millennials are buying less cars, homes and goods in comparison to those before them.

The wealth of the top brass in our world own everything from our grocery stores to our media. 6 major companies own all of our media (see here) and our goods and grocery stores are just the same owned by 11 companies! (see here)

What can the average person do to help this issue?

  • Buy from your local sellers.
  • Buy items at thrift stores instead of fast fashion sellers who require labor from children across the world.
  • Get your food at farmers markets and local farmers or join any number of online food delivery sources that buy from farms directly to help them prosper. Imperfect Foods is one I willingly and happily support. Check out them here!
  • Vote locally, support those that understand that wealth inequality is a huge issue keeping our countries citizens weak and poor.
