Immigration

Immigration

It is not only fundamental to our nation's history, it is essential to its future.

Immigration

When children are locked away in overcrowded detention centers and the government argues in court against giving them toothbrushes and soap, it’s time to reassert our core values as a nation of immigrants.

When people who were brought to this country as children, who have known no other home, who have stayed in school or served honorably in the U.S. military, who have paid taxes and contributed to our communities, are deported to unstable and unfamiliar foreign lands, it is time to re-examine our law enforcement priorities.

We believe a great nation should never mistreat children or refugees.

We oppose family separation, indefinite detention, and the misallocation of law enforcement resources on cruel and counterproductive immigration policies.

We support the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to people who were brought to the U.S. as children, who obeyed the law once here, who stayed in school or joined the military, and who pass a background check.
